His Promise Is Your Proof

Gods demands us to believe His promises.

I have heard many people find reasons why judgement came to David when he numbered (or made a census of) the people (see I Chronicles 21:1-17 & II Samuel 24:1-15.) Correctly it is pointed out that an offering should have been made for the people that was not offered. Others have said it points to David wanting to take pride in the size of the army. These are all correct, I am sure.

Yet, these answers never really settled the question for me.  I might note that I have just trusted that God had a good reason and I know He is just. Yet, as not wanting to repeat David's mistake, I have been had a reverent curiosity as to why such sever consequences for a "census."

To me these two passages give some clarity into how offensive it was to God:
23 But David took not the number of them from twenty years old and under: because the Lord had said he would increase Israel like to the stars of the heavens.  24 Joab the son of Zeruiah began to number, but he finished not, because there fell wrath for it against Israel; neither was the number put in the account of the chronicles of king David.  I Chronicles 27:23-24

and
And Joab answered, The LORD make his people an hundred times so many more as they be: but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord's servants? why then doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel.  I Chronicles 21:3
It seems that David's action was seen as a lack of faith in the promise God made that He "would increase Israel like to the stars of the heavens."  God just wanted David to believe it without proof.  Just believe.

So, David's action was not of faith in Gods Promise, therefore it was sin to him (Romans 14:23).

Accept God's promise and make His Word the only proof and verification you need.  We are called to just live like His Word is coming to pass in our lives.

Voice of God: Avoid Spiritual Manipulation

Disobeying what God has spoke to you will cost you.

Two Characters: Man of God and a Prophet.

Man of God was told to do something. He did it. God also told him what he was not to do.

So a prophet came to the man of God. The prophet convinced the man of God to turn from what was told him by God. This was going to be a grave mistake.

Notice how the prophet turned the heart of the man of God: spiritual manipulation. He declared himself as being a prophet. Then the prophet stated a supernatural sign (an angel spoke to me...) was proof of this change in the man of Gods plans.

It seems to me that the man of God was intimidated by the old prophet.

Over the years, I have had many question what I heard from God.  Getting input and having it judged by wise friends is safe practice.  It can help confirm or at least challenge you to verify you heard correctly.

Its those people who try to control you through pulling rank or removing relationship that do the most damage.

Simple truth: Once you know what God has told you never allow anyone to turn you from it.

Paul said this in Galatians 1:8 AMP

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to and different from that which we preached to you, let him be accursed (anathema, devoted to destruction, doomed to eternal punishment)!

IMPORTANT: Everything God has told you needs to line up with the Word of God (Bible) or its not from God.

I Kings 13:18 AMP

He answered, I am a prophet also, as you are. And an angel spoke to me by the word of the Lord, saying, Bring him back with you to your house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied to him.

We love you.
Be blessed.

Gods Great Mercy - Trust in His Mercy

Gods Mercy covers us.

David had failed (as we all have) God. Judgement was coming. He was given three options. David made his choice seeing it as being in God's hand.

Many people when they fail run from God and not to God. Whether is a change of desire to follow Him or just condemnation many hide themselves from God. Its been that way from the Garden of Eden until now. They have very little faith in the mercy of God.

One of the reasons David was called a "man after Gods heart" was he knew the nature of God. He knew God has a propensity toward mercy. God is predisposed to forgive us.

David is right. Lets run to God. His Mercies are great. His Mercy is toward you. Praise God!

And David said to Gad, “I am in great distress. Please let us fall into the hand of the Lord, for His mercies are great; but do not let me fall into the hand of man.” II Samuel 24:14

We love you.

Be blessed.

Partnership: Equal Rewards

Most Christians do not understand that God rewards equally: those who fight & those who support those who fight. Again, equally!

This ordinance was established by David. As he lead his army victoriously in battle they took spoil from the defeated advaries. There were those who watched the stuff while the warriors came out to battle. The warriors did not want to share the spoil with those who watched their stuff. David said they would share equally, the warriors and those who helped the warriors by watching their stuff.

When you help someone do what God has called them to do, God will give you the same reward as if you did it.

"But as his part is who goes down to the battle, so shall his part be who stays by the supplies; they shall share alike.” 25 So it was, from that day forward; he made it a statute and an ordinance for Israel to this day." I Samuel 30:24-25

Apostle Paul said something very similar when talking with the Philippian church who where in partnership with Paul. Paul said they would be "partakers" of the "grace" or spiritual blessing on his life. The reason was because of their spiritual and financial support they could expect to have same blessing on their life as he has on his life.

5 [I thank my God] for your fellowship (your sympathetic cooperation and contributions and partnership) in advancing the good news (the Gospel) from the first day [you heard it] until now.... 7 It is right and appropriate for me to have this confidence and feel this way about you all, because you have me in your heart and I hold you in my heart as partakers and sharers, one and all with me, of grace (God’s unmerited favor and spiritual blessing). [This is true] both when I am shut up in prison and when I am out in the defense and confirmation of the good news (the Gospel). Philippians 1:5&8 emphasis mine

Jesus also confirmed this principle.  When you and I receive a prophet or disciple for ministries sake, we partake of their reward.  When Jesus said "receive" the meaning is that we take them in and supply them with all that we have.  "In the name..." means after there mission and purpose.

So when we take a minister of the Gospel and supply them with what we have because of their mission then what reward they get we are partakers.

"He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward. And he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.”  Matthew 10:41&42

Get behind someones else's mission and God will reward you equally.

We love you.

Be blessed.

Prayer - A Renewed Mind - Childrens Ministry

Wow!  What a week!

Last Sundays Back To School Service outreach was a marvelous success.  Many came to receive Christ.  Power of God was present.  We had in the top five largest services ever.

We want to thank everyone who worked so hard to make the outreach such a success.

It carried over to Wednesday Night.  That service was at another level.  It was packed with people who are hungry for more.

We are expecting more Sunday!

A RENEWED MIND CONNECTS US TO THE SUPERNATURAL

11 So he came to a certain place and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that place and put it at his head, and he lay down in that place to sleep...
18 Then Jacob rose early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put at his head, set it up as a pillar, and poured oil on top of it.   Genesis 28:11&18

 - Jacob put his head on the rock to receive divine revelation of how to use the blessing in his life.

- Jacobs head represents the place where thoughts, ideas, opinions are birthed.

- The rock represents hearing and doing Gods Word (see Matthew 7:24.)

- Once he rested his he

ad on the rock, revelation came.

Sunday we will release revelation

on how as we renew our mind with the Word of God, He is able to show us great things.

Also we are providing prayer cards for you to write your 3 Greatest Needs that you are believing to be answered by the end of the year.  We are going to attach them to a ladder this is set up in the sanctuary.  This ladder will serve as a point of contact as we unify ourselves in prayer.

CHILDRENS WORKERS MEETING

We are preparing to go into our Fall Schedule.

Prayer - Collision of Heaven & Earth

10 Now Jacob went out from Beersheba and went toward Haran. 11 So he came to a certain place and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that place and put it at his head, and he lay down in that place to sleep. 12 Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder wasset up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.
13 And behold, the Lord stood above it and said: "I am the Lord God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants. 14 Also your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad to the west and the east, to the north and the south; and in you and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.15 Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you."
16 Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, "Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it."17 And he was afraid and said, "How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!"
18 Then Jacob rose early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put at his head, set it up as a pillar, and poured oil on top of it. 19 And he called the name of that place Bethel;[a] but the name of that city had been Luz previously. 20 Then Jacob made a vow, saying, "If God will be with me, and keep me in this way that I am going, and give me bread to eat and clothing to put on, 21 so that I come back to my father's house in peace, then the Lord shall be my God. 22 And this stone which I have set as a pillar shall be God's house, and of all that You give me I will surely give a tenth to You."  Genesis 28

What a dream!

In this passage God is revealing Himself to Jacob.  A ladder from heaven to earth with angels ascending and descending.  God shows him how to get his needs met by God and not himself.

Within in this story are powerful revelations we can apply to our prayer life.

During the month of August we are going to releasing what I believe to be truths that can revolutionize how we pray effectively.

Also we are providing prayer cards for you to write your 3 Greatest Needs that you are believing to be answered by the end of the year.  We are going to attach them to a ladder this is set up in the sanctuary.  This ladder will serve as a point of contact as we unify ourselves in prayer.

Word Level = Promises Realized

To the level you find yourself in the Word of God is the level God is able to move in your life.  God wanted Joshua to be "prosperous" and "have good success."

It was dependent on keeping the Word:
1.  in his mouth
2.  on his mind
3.  over his methods (that he may observe to do according...)

His relationship with the Word was the determining factor.  Still true today.  Jesus said, "And He said to them, Be careful what you are hearing. The measure [of thought and study] you give [to the truth you hear] will be the measure [of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you—and more [besides] will be given to you who hear."  Mark 4:24 AMP

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.  Joshua 1:8

We love you.

Be blessed.

A Blessing a Curse? A Curse a Blessing?

What does a blessing look like? What does a curse look like?

MOST people have these backwards. Worst still, they think God has those backwards too.

Please let God describe what a blessing looks like and what a curse looks like. Religious, fearful and unbelieving people always get it wrong.

Deuteronomy 28
Blessings on Obedience

28 “Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. 2 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God:

3 “Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country.

4 “Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks.

5 “Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.

6 “Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.

7 “The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.

8 “The Lord will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

9 “The Lord will establish you as a holy people to Himself, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in His ways. 10 Then all peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they shall be afraid of you. 11 And the Lord will grant you plenty of goods, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your ground, in the land of which the Lord swore to your fathers to give you. 12 The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. 13 And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them. 14 So you shall not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right or the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

Curses on Disobedience

15 “But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments and His statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you:

16 “Cursed shall you be in the city, and cursed shall you be in the country.

17 “Cursed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.

18 “Cursed shall be the fruit of your body and the produce of your land, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks.

19 “Cursed shall you be when you come in, and cursed shall you be when you go out.

20 “The Lord will send on you cursing, confusion, and rebuke in all that you set your hand to do, until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly, because of the wickedness of your doings in which you have forsaken Me. 21 The Lord will make the plague cling to you until He has consumed you from the land which you are going to possess. 22 The Lord will strike you with consumption, with fever, with inflammation, with severe burning fever, with the sword, with scorching, and with mildew; they shall pursue you until you perish. 23 And your heavens which are over your head shall be bronze, and the earth which is under you shall be iron. 24 The Lord will change the rain of your land to powder and dust; from the heaven it shall come down on you until you are destroyed.

25 “The Lord will cause you to be defeated before your enemies; you shall go out one way against them and flee seven ways before them; and you shall become troublesome to all the kingdoms of the earth. 26 Your carcasses shall be food for all the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and no one shall frighten them away. 27 The Lord will strike you with the boils of Egypt, with tumors, with the scab, and with the itch, from which you cannot be healed. 28 The Lord will strike you with madness and blindness and confusion of heart. 29 And you shall grope at noonday, as a blind man gropes in darkness; you shall not prosper in your ways; you shall be only oppressed and plundered continually, and no one shall save you.

30 “You shall betroth a wife, but another man shall lie with her; you shall build a house, but you shall not dwell in it; you shall plant a vineyard, but shall not gather its grapes. 31 Your ox shall be slaughtered before your eyes, but you shall not eat of it; your donkey shall be violently taken away from before you, and shall not be restored to you; your sheep shall be given to your enemies, and you shall have no one to rescue them. 32 Your sons and your daughters shall be given to another people, and your eyes shall look and fail with longing for them all day long; and there shall be no strength in your hand. 33 A nation whom you have not known shall eat the fruit of your land and the produce of your labor, and you shall be only oppressed and crushed continually. 34 So you shall be driven mad because of the sight which your eyes see. 35 The Lord will strike you in the knees and on the legs with severe boils which cannot be healed, and from the sole of your foot to the top of your head.

36 “The Lord will bring you and the king whom you set over you to a nation which neither you nor your fathers have known, and there you shall serve other gods—wood and stone. 37 And you shall become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword among all nations where the Lord will drive you.

38 “You shall carry much seed out to the field but gather little in, for the locust shall consume it. 39 You shall plant vineyards and tend them, but you shall neither drink of the wine nor gather the grapes; for the worms shall eat them. 40 You shall have olive trees throughout all your territory, but you shall not anoint yourself with the oil; for your olives shall drop off. 41 You shall beget sons and daughters, but they shall not be yours; for they shall go into captivity. 42 Locusts shall consume all your trees and the produce of your land.

43 “The alien who is among you shall rise higher and higher above you, and you shall come down lower and lower. 44 He shall lend to you, but you shall not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail.

45 “Moreover all these curses shall come upon you and pursue and overtake you, until you are destroyed, because you did not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you. 46 And they shall be upon you for a sign and a wonder, and on your descendants forever.

47 “Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joy and gladness of heart, for the abundance of everything, 48 therefore you shall serve your enemies, whom the Lord will send against you, in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in need of everything; and He will put a yoke of iron on your neck until He has destroyed you. 49 The Lord will bring a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies, a nation whose language you will not understand, 50 a nation of fierce countenance, which does not respect the elderly nor show favor to the young. 51 And they shall eat the increase of your livestock and the produce of your land, until you are destroyed; they shall not leave you grain or new wine or oil, or the increase of your cattle or the offspring of your flocks, until they have destroyed you.

52 “They shall besiege you at all your gates until your high and fortified walls, in which you trust, come down throughout all your land; and they shall besiege you at all your gates throughout all your land which the Lord your God has given you. 53 You shall eat the fruit of your own body, the flesh of your sons and your daughters whom the Lord your God has given you, in the siege and desperate straits in which your enemy shall distress you. 54 The sensitive and very refined man among you will be hostile toward his brother, toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the rest of his children whom he leaves behind, 55 so that he will not give any of them the flesh of his children whom he will eat, because he has nothing left in the siege and desperate straits in which your enemy shall distress you at all your gates. 56 The tender and delicate woman among you, who would not venture to set the sole of her foot on the ground because of her delicateness and sensitivity, will refuse[a] to the husband of her bosom, and to her son and her daughter, 57 her placenta which comes out from between her feet and her children whom she bears; for she will eat them secretly for lack of everything in the siege and desperate straits in which your enemy shall distress you at all your gates.

58 “If you do not carefully observe all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name, THE LORD YOUR GOD, 59 then the Lord will bring upon you and your descendants extraordinary plagues—great and prolonged plagues—and serious and prolonged sicknesses. 60 Moreover He will bring back on you all the diseases of Egypt, of which you were afraid, and they shall cling to you. 61 Also every sickness and every plague, which is not written in this Book of the Law, will the Lord bring upon you until you are destroyed. 62 You shall be left few in number, whereas you were as the stars of heaven in multitude, because you would not obey the voice of the Lord your God. 63 And it shall be, that just as the Lord rejoiced over you to do you good and multiply you, so the Lord will rejoice over you to destroy you and bring you to nothing; and you shall be plucked from off the land which you go to possess.

64 “Then the Lord will scatter you among all peoples, from one end of the earth to the other, and there you shall serve other gods, which neither you nor your fathers have known—wood and stone. 65 And among those nations you shall find no rest, nor shall the sole of your foot have a resting place; but there the Lord will give you a trembling heart, failing eyes, and anguish of soul. 66 Your life shall hang in doubt before you; you shall fear day and night, and have no assurance of life. 67 In the morning you shall say, ‘Oh, that it were evening!’ And at evening you shall say, ‘Oh, that it were morning!’ because of the fear which terrifies your heart, and because of the sight which your eyes see.

68 “And the Lord will take you back to Egypt in ships, by the way of which I said to you, ‘You shall never see it again.’ And there you shall be offered for sale to your enemies as male and female slaves, but no one will buy you.”

We love you.

Be blessed.
